Robert Dean and The Assessment

The Assessment was an astonishing super-secret NATO report compiled in the early 1960s by top level military experts and scientists and concluded that:
 

Earth has been spied upon by several extra terrestrial civilizations for thousands of years.
 

These civilizations appear to be peaceful since they are so advanced they could have taken over our planet by now.
 

The visitors are increasing contact with us in a gradual unfolding of a plan in which they eventually interact with Earth's inhabitants.
 

"The eight-inch thick official report took three years to complete," says Robert Dean, a retired Army Command Sergeant Major, who served as an intelligence analyst holding "cosmic top secret clearance" (the highest given at NATO) while he was attached to SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in the 1960s.

The study was ordered by British Air Marshal Thomas Pike, chief deputy to SACEUR (Supreme Allied Commander Europe) General Lyman Lemnitzer and was initiated by NATO in response to hundreds of confirmed sightings of mysterious, fast moving spacecraft in western Europe, particularly over military installations.

"At least three times in the 60s," says Dean, "those craft showed up on our radar in ways that almost triggered World War III." Therefore it became essential that the major world powers be informed as accurately as NATO could determine the situation to be.

"The report was so sensitive only 15 copies were printed. One copy went to NATO's Operations Division, where I was a member of the inner command staff. That's how I got a chance to see it."

"I spent many days reading The Assessment and it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck," says Dean. "Many of the senior officers were greatly disturbed."

Included in the document was information about the retrieval of a crashed 90 ft. disc with alien bodies near Bremen, Germany; a Turkish Air Force plane that was tracked on radar in 1963 when an unidentified craft began following it -- and "swallowed it up" -- with not a trace of the plane or crew to be found by search and rescue missions; abductions of humans by alien craft; how the physical characteristics of some of the members of the different civilizations visiting us caused alarm at the Pentagon and what their purpose seemed to be.

A much decorated combat veteran, Robert Dean served 27 years on active duty with the Army in various capacities. He served as an Infantry Unit Commander in combat in Korea and Vietnam; with Intelligence Field operations in Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam; and was later assigned to SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) as an intelligence analyst.

Engaged in the field of UFO research for many years, Dean is currently a member of the Board of Directors of ICUFOR (International Center for UFO Research) and is the Arizona Regional Director for Pima County MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), and is also a member and Field Investigator for CUFOS (Center for UFO Studies) as well as a member of The Ancient Astronauts Society. He was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of APRO (Aerial Phenomenon Research Organization) for 12 years.
